Kerilyn Schewel is a doctoral candidate in Sociology at the University of Amsterdam. Her doctoral research focuses on the mobility history of a rural Ethiopian village, elucidating the social transformations that give rise to changing migration patterns over generations. Related research interests include migration aspirations and decision-making, immobility, education, development, and migration theory. She holds an MSc in Migration Studies from the University of Oxford and a BA in Psychology from the University of Virginia.
